At Google there is one guy who knows how to fix the problem.. he's a monk who is also in 700 different teams and the only one who remembers how the systems were built. You have to climb all the way up to his mountain abode, hope that he is home and pray that he will hear your cries and help you

There's a long queue up that mountain, though.

Synergy often means layoffs. As in, we merged two companies and now have two of every department, one of each has to go, and the remainder can do the work of both (yay synergy).

I always checked the harbor for unlocked boats and took them on joyrides.

None of these experiences would be possible in a "WoW clone" MMO. Only with the freedom of an immersive sim can these memorable moments happen.

We could do it in 1999. Why has no one done it again? Why isn't there a BotW-engine MMO?

I think Star Citizen might be the closest thing. It’s certainly unparalleled. There is an interesting talk with the techtool guy from last Thursday.

Because this style of game appealed to two clusters of gamers. The first one is small and niche, and thus not profitable. The second one are the griefers who only want to play if they have victims available, which isn't going to happen in a small & niche game.

These kinds of games *do* exist, they're just, well, small & niche as they've learned to either build in protections against griefers and/or stay small enough to not attract notice. If you find yourself in the first cluster and not the second, you may want to check out the latest project from Raph Koster, aka Designer Dragon from UO. [1]

The Torment Nexus can't even put a loaf of bread on my table, so it's obvious we have nothing to fear from it!

I agree we don't have much to (physically) fear from it...yet. But the people who can't take "no" for an answer and don't get that it is fundamentally non-human, I can believe they are quite dangerous.

This Chinese study says it was dispersed through global atmospheric circulation and mentions the liquid and gaseous discharge from nuclear facilities at Sellafield (UK) and La Hague (France) as sources. Russian tests are mentioned as well but they are apparently not the sole or primary source.

Scary.. Did the airline comp you for that?

Of course not!

Don't even talk to me if you aren't dressed up like kidnapped Maduro while you sleepmaxx.
